It consists of a woven, threaded material that provides the tire with extra foundational support when pressed against the road. This means that the lower the thread count a tire has, the more resistance it exhibits to things like punctures—because those cords are larger. Higher thread concentrations make the material less protective, and the tire lighter and more flexible. So, when going to purchase new tires, it’s important that you find a balance between the two for the best driving experience.
